The Transparency Layer
The transparency obligations under Article 50—requiring disclosure of AI interactions, labeling of synthetic content, and deepfake identification—also become enforceable in August 2026.
My Take: This isn't theoretical anymore. The world's richest market just weaponized AI governance. Non-compliant vendors face exile from EU customers representing €17 trillion GDP. The smart move: companies should treat August 2 as the actual deadline, not a starting gun. Two interpretations exist: one sees this as innovation-killing bureaucracy, the other as baseline trust infrastructure. The evidence will come from which companies thrive post-compliance.
